Hello everyone and welcome back. I am appreciative that you returned to read my blog. Today is Friday and I’m hoping everyone gets to rest or have fun. I understand not everyone gets the weekends off. In that case, happy next day off.
The weather here is sunny, with temps in the low 70’s, which is nice. The past week has been rough though. The air quality was in the moderate-high zone. The wildfires ravaging the forests of Oregon and northern CA has caused harmful air to spread to the San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding areas. According to the local news, we were the 6th worst air quality location in the world. Yikes! It is hard to breathe when outside.
I remember the times when I really didn’t notice air quality issues. The only uneasy breathing experiences I had as a child was living in the Central Valley of California. On hot summer nights, it was hard to breathe. We didn’t have air conditioning, and I would often run to the freezer to get “breathable air” and cool off. During the moderate or higher air quality days you will be effected . Sensitive or non sensitive, you are still inhaling harmful air pollutants that you cannot see with the naked eye. One can wear an N-95 mask which does filter out the dangerous particles, but in my opinion, I can’t really breathe quite well in those masks. One of my prime exercises is to do water aerobics. On days like this, forget it. I don’t want to exercise outdoors while breathing in bad air, and I certainly do not want to wear an N-95 mask while doing water aerobics. Are you kidding me?
According to the web, the most recent fires in Oregon is taking place at the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. The size is 34,242 acres, and 75 percent containment. Let’s hope that these fires are contained soon. I recently visited South Lake Tahoe, and saw all the forest damage that was done back in August 2021. The Caldor Fire was responsible for ravaging 221,835 acres in the Sierra Nevada. Fortunately, there were no reported fatalities. This comes to the conclusion of this blog post. We really love and appreciate our forests. Thank you to all the Fire Fighters and other personnel and volunteers who helped stop the spread of the fires and helped the communities in any way. We love and appreciate you. Let us do our very best to be mindful and respectful of our trees so that they may be around for a very long time.
